Purpose: Demonstrate the force of a magnetic field on a moving charged particle(Right hand Rule).
Parts:
- Cathode ray tube w/ stand
- Power supply unit for CRT
- Cables
Setup:
Connect the positive and negative leads from the power supply to the tube as shown in the pictures. Increase the voltage(see power supply unit) so that you can see the electron beam through the vacuum tube. Move a bar magnet close to the beam and see the deflection of beam.
Note: Do not set the voltage high, it will emit other types of rays.
