Purpose:
Demonstrate the variation of capacitance with distance and the material in between the plates.
Parts:
- Slidable big parallel plate capacitor
- High Impedance Voltmeter
- Sheet of glass
- Piece if rabbit fur
- LabQuest interface box to Project voltmeter to the big screen
Setup:
Give some charges to the capacitor using rabbit fur and rod so that it has a voltage across the plates. Increase the distance between the plates (by sliding one plate away from the other) see the voltage Increasing. Insert a sheet of glass in between the plates which also increases the voltmeter reading.
